Stop Kids From Killing Kids Campaign

Sixteen young people are murdered on average each day in the United States. That's more than 5,500 preventable deaths each year. Homicide is the second leading cause of death of young people between the ages of 10 and 24, only trailing unintentional accidents. That's more lives lost than from cancer, HIV, heart disease and suicide.

Youth violence is not only a problem that affects low income neighborhoods. The violence affects the health of all communities. The impact of youth violence is increased health care costs, decreased property values and disrupted social services. The Center for Disease Control estimates the cost of youth violence exceeds $158 billion each year.
